The
Interactive Soundscape Designer is software (for Mac OS X)
Zach Poff and I developed during a residency at
Opera House Arts, in Stonington, ME. It is designed as a public interface for a community or archival database of audio recordings, allowing members of the public to simply and intuitively call up and mix soundfiles from the collected database.
The system is designed to be easy-to-use but also have controls that allow for the unexpected in an effort to encourage repeated public usage and inject an element of artistic interplay. Both the system and the audio database are expandable over time.
